Phnom Penh, 26 July 2023: His Excellency Ly Chantola, President of the National Committee of Cambodia ASEAN Law Association and the President of the Bar Association of Cambodia (BAKC),
led the delegation consisting of His Excellency Prom Vicheth Akara, Permanent Vice-President and members of the National Committee of Cambodia ASEAN Law Association, to receive a courtesy call and work visit by His Excellency Sundaresh Menon, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Singapore and President of the ASEAN Law Association (ALA), Justice Lee Seiu Kin, Chairman of ALA Singapore and Justice of High Court of Singapore and the delegation.
At this occasion, His Excellency Ly Chantola briefed to the delegation on the progress, direction and visions of the National Committee of Cambodia ASEAN Law Association. Under the wise leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the head of the Royal Government of Cambodia, the National Committee of Cambodia ASEAN Law Association, whom members are legal practitioners, has been given the opportunity to contribute to development of legal sector in Cambodia.
In this meeting, His Excellency Ly Chantola also reaffirmed the support and readiness of the National Committee of Cambodia ASEAN Law Association to attend the 14th ALA General Assembly and 44th ALA Governing Council Meeting in October 2023 in Malaysia. Additionally, at the invitation of the National Committee of ASEAN Law Association of Malaysia, leader and members of the National Committee of Cambodia ASEAN Law Association will participate as speakers and moderator at the ASEAN Law Conference 2023 and send law students to compete in the ASEAN Moot, which will take place during the 14th General Assembly of ASEAN Law Association.
Both sides also openly exchanged perspectives and information on the path forward for ASEAN Law Association and explored the possibilities of strengthening the cooperation in legal sector under the ASEAN Law Association’s frameworks. The above meeting was concluded with friendliness, success, and fruitfulness.
