Kuala Lumpur, 21 October 2023: H.E. LY CHANTOLA, President of the National Committee of ASEAN Law Association and also the President of the Bar Association of Cambodia, has led a delegation to take part in the 44th Governing Council Meeting of ASEAN Law Association on the morning of 21 October 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The meeting had discussed on several crucial topics with regards to the 2023 Action Plan of ASEAN Law Association and what lies ahead for the organization. The topics of discussion include the future trajectory and detailed work plan of the Association, the possibility of organizing ASEAN Moot Competition and the cooperation between ASEAN Law Association and ASEAN Secretariate.
During the meeting, H.E. LY CHANTOLA has emphasized the effort of ALA Cambodia in positively contributing to the development of Cambodia’s legal sector, especially under the visionary leadership of SAMDECH MOHA BORVOR THIPADEI HUN MANET which is succeeded from the wise leadership of SAMDECH AKKA MOHA SENA PADEI TECHO HUN SEN. Furthermore, H.E. President also highlighted the commitment of ALA Cambodia in participating in ASEAN Law Association’s prospective projects. Particularly, ALA Cambodia fully supported the arrangement of this year ASEAN Moot Competition where students were carefully selected to participate in the event and ALA Cambodia’s members were assigned to the competition’s Scoring Commission.
The Meeting has proceeded with the spirit of responsibility and concluded with satisfactory result, having seen active involvement from the Presidents of ALA member countries in order to resolve challenges and achieve the common goals of ASEAN Law Association.
The 44th Governing Council Meeting of ASEAN Law Association is one of several important meetings including the 14th ASEAN Law Association General Assembly and ASEAN Law Conference 2023 under the theme “ASEAN TAPESTRY - OUR PRIDE” that embraces the diversity in historical, cultural and legal aspects among the ASEAN nations. It is worth mentioning that the 45th Governing Council Meeting of ASEAN Law Association next year will be held in the Republic of the Philippines.
